ANGOLA

We first visited Angola in October of 2018, but our team has been living and working there for years, and Overland missionaries have been dreaming of spreading the Gospel there since before Overland Missions existed.

Did Angola get more beautifuler while we

The three families that have made up the Angola Team for the last five years have been working primarily with semi-nomadic tribes in the southwest of the country, specifically in the region of the Namibe desert. They have seen God do amazing things in the lives of people who had previously never heard the name of Jesus.

Angola's western border is the Atlantic ocean, with Namibia to the South, Zambia to the east, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the North. Angola is approximately twice the size of Texas (or Zambia) and is the 7th largest nation in Africa.

The Angola team consists of five families! Three are located in Namibe, Angola, where Overland started ministry in Angola. One family lives in Humpata, closer to the city of Lubango, and we live a few hours southeast of them. We live on a cattle ranch called Fazenda Tchincombe, which is an awesome ministry in and of itself. The farm holds a village of about 300 people, a church, a clinic, and a few houses. It is owned by a local, Angolan church denomination, and has been run by a couple who work with SIM for 30 years. We have the benefit of living on the property, renting a house and working with believers there to reach the surrounding area with the gospel. We launched this new location with our friend Rachel in September of 2021.

So far our ministry is based in two villages, and we've done a few trips to other locations. Our focus is visiting people homes and sharing about Jesus, centralized Bible studies to dive deeper into the Word with people, and kids ministry! In the coming year (2023) we are planning to do more discipleship with our team, in the hopes of training local leaders to take over ministry.
